About your role

As a Policy Advisor within the Office of International Affairs, you will actively contribute to the internationalization ambitions of Amsterdam UMC. You will develop (international) policy, contribute to establishing international collaborations, and connect internal and external networks. You work in a dynamic and developing context, navigating between policy development, implementation, and building connections. In close collaboration with others, you will help build the department, structure international activities, and stimulate strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing policies on international positioning and collaboration.
  • Coordinating and facilitating strategic meetings and working sessions.
  • Drafting advisory reports and proposals for international strategic partnerships.
  • Identifying international trends and translating them into opportunities for Amsterdam UMC.
  • Connecting departments, experts and networks across Amsterdam UMC.
  • Designing tools and templates to support internationalization efforts.

Your work will span various parts of the organization, making the role both dynamic and wide-ranging. This requires organizational sensitivity, situational awareness, and the ability to engage with stakeholders at different levels. You can easily switch between strategic thinking and practical execution.

About you
  • A university-level education or equivalent academic working and thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational awareness and the ability to understand how your actions affect others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as relevant project experience.
  • A talent for building relationships and gaining stakeholder support.
  • Creativity, a structured approach, and the confidence to propose innovative ideas.
  • A strong international orientation and interest in global developments.
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English.

Our offer
  • One-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract.
  • Classification in salary scale 10, 11: € 3.493 to € 6.402 gross for full-time employment (depending on education and experience).
  • From July 1st, 2025, there will be a salary increase of 3%. Check out this article for more information on the improved employment conditions.
  • In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here.
  • Vacation hours: 190,4 per year for fulltime and possibility to save additional hours.

  • Pension accrual with the ABP, of which we pay 70% of the premium.
