The project

Amsterdam UMC Research Grant Support (RGS) is seeking a dynamic team member and highly motivated individual who is passionate about working as a project manager. The function offers ample opportunity for development, deepening and broadening, additional training and a place to grow!

You will work closely with the senior project managers and grant managers of the Research Grant Support team and the other members of the Research Support division, to advance, support and guide Amsterdam UMC acquisition and project management of two Marie Sklodowska Curie European Doctoral Networks funded projects.

About your role

Pre-award tasks:

  • Handle the formal registration and submission of the proposals in any relevant format.
  • Conduct follow-up on proposals supported by Research Grant Support and prepare the necessary documentation for formal acceptance and negotiation cycle, including forward all the relevant information and documentation to the post-award area such as consortium agreements.
  • Prepare generic guidelines and instructions for especially important calls.
  • Prepare European projects amendments.
  • General administrative and back-office tasks related to the pre-award area.

Post-award tasks including the management of European Marie Curie projects:

  • Monitor overall progress and use of resources (together with financial controller), and initiate corrective action where necessary.
  • Manage project administration incl. grant management systems.
  • Collect input from consortium partners for reports and deliverables to report to funding agency.
  • Organize consortium meetings.
  • Assist in the recruitment process of local (AUMC) researchers in Marie Curie Doctoral Networks (e.g. set-up and distribution of vacancy, interview planning, etc.).
  • (Co)-write documents, such as: management handbooks, templates, reports and/or (ethical) deliverables.
  • Solve issues that arise (in general).
About you
  • master’s degree with experience and/or demonstrable affinity with research projects;
  • strong analytical skills, organized, able to keep track of multiple projects at the same time;
  • strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities;
  • a proactive, stimulating attitude; you form a team with the researcher, the consortium, and the colleagues from Grant Support and the wider support network;
  • preferably, you have knowledge of rules and procedures for European funding programmes, or the experience which will enable you to quickly master these rules and procedures;
  • full proficiency in Dutch and English with excellent communication, written, and listening skills. English is the second working language of the office;
  • digital skills, including experience with content management systems, visual design and database management;
  • video-editing skills, experience with web analytics, and with online survey tools are considered a plus;
  • experience in organizing in-person events, as well as digital ones (such as via Zoom and Teams).

  • A contract for 12 months, with the intention to extend for a total of 4 years.
  • Classification in salary scale 10: € 3.598 to € 5.669 gross for full-time employment (depending on experience). In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here. As of 1 July 2026, the salary will be increased by 3.5% in accordance with the collective labor agreement (CAO UMC).
  • Holiday hours: 194.4 per year for full time and a possibility to save additional hours.
  • 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs. If you travel by foot, bicycle, or car, a mileage allowance of €0.21 per km applies (up to a maximum of 40 km one way by car).

About your workplace

You will work at Amsterdam UMC Research Grant Support, About Research Grant Support | Amsterdam UMC, a staff department of the Research Support service, where various organizational units work together to support researchers and create an environment in which they can excel. The grant support team consists of three grant advisors/project managers, one full time project manager, six consortium grant advisors for national and European programs, two personal grant advisors for the national talent grants and ERC. The grant advisors and project managers are decisive professionals who work together on the basis of content expertise and a shared vision. The work is distributed taking into account everyone's knowledge, experience and workload. You must be fluent in Dutch and English. You are in contact with employees of the division Research Support and other divisions of Amsterdam UMC.
