The project

Our myeloid research team has ample experience in identifying, characterizing and quantifying malignant myeloid cells in patients with several hematological malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and myeloid dysplastic syndromes (MDS). The malignant cells are measured by flow cytometry using different CD-marker panels specific to the myeloid cells.

It has become more and more clear that the immune environment in the bone marrow is very important to achieve good and prolonged remissions. Hence, many different CD-marker panels are currently used to measure specific functional cell populations such as T-cell, B-cell and NK-cell subsets.

As we have a large number of data of different immune monitoring panels measured in large patient cohorts, we want to make an inventory of current panels and results, and develop the most optimal panels for each of the different research questions of different immune cell subsets. These panels need to be validated and bioinformatics pipelines designed for standardized analysis of the data.

In order to achieve the above a non-academic tenure track Scientist is required and requested.

About your role

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • make an inventory of our immune monitoring data and knowledge of literature;
  • design flow cytometry panels (conventional and/or spectral) for different research questions and specific immune cell subsets;
  • validate the panels and optimize (computational) analysis.

The project will require at least 3 years. Within this period the following goals are expected to be achieved:

  1. Optimal flow cytometry panels for all relevant immune cell subsets.
  2. Pipeline for analysis of the flow cytometry data to be used and adjusted for different research questions related to immune monitoring.
About you

You have:

  • a PhD;
  • extensive technical experience in  flow cytometry (conventional and spectral);
  • experience in setting up flow cytometry panels;
  • affinity with bioinformatics.
