You will be appointed by the faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC Research BV and will become a member of The Centre for Urban Mental Health (UMH Centre for urban mental health | Research on Mental Health). UMH is the largest interdisciplinary Research Priority Area of the University of Amsterdam. This centre aims to find new pathways to improve mental health in urban settings, such as the city of Amsterdam, that take into account the complexities and dynamics of mental health problems and mental health disorders in an urban environment.
We are currently looking for a post-doc that will be actively involved in various UMH projects with an emphasis on the development and evaluation of common mental health digital twins. Specifically, using extensive datasets from various clinical trials, this research will focus on modelling individual trajectories of symptoms, behavior, and treatment response over time in order to simulate and predict mental health dynamics under different intervention scenarios and different environmental and societal scenarios. This work will combine methods from clinical psychology, psychiatry, computational modeling, and machine learning to support personalized and adaptive mental health care.
We are seeking a highly motivated, talented individual. In addition you meet the following requirements:
Studies show that women and members of underrepresented groups only apply for jobs if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Do you meet the educational requirements but not yet all of the requested experience? We encourage you to apply anyway.
You will work at Amsterdam UMC (location AMC) and at the Institute for Advanced Study Amsterdam and will join internationally recognized research groups at AmsterdamUMC. You will be embedded in the Intervention Lab led by Prof. Claudi Bockting at the Department of Psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC (www.interventionlab.nl), and the Department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics, enriched by Wednesday gatherings at the Centre for Urban Mental Health (Centre for urban mental health | Research on Mental Health). At the Centre for Urban Mental Health, researchers from different fields use the tools of complexity science to identify new pathways to improve mental health in the city. For example, we investigate the impact of single versus multimodal/multilevel interventions for common mental health disorders, digital (AI) based interventions, personalised interventions, early life stress, and the gut microbiome in depression.
Together, these groups share a common mission using an interdisciplinary perspective: to identify new pathways that can be targeted through innovative interventions to improve mental health, while taking into account the complexity, interconnectedness, and dynamic nature of mental disorders in urban environments.
Amsterdam UMC Research BV supports scientific research on a not-for-profit basis. Through this, we provide researchers with everything they need to excel.
