As associate professor, you will strengthen and further expand research and education in the field of epidemiology of work & health and prevention of work-related diseases.

Work is important for many reasons, yet too many working people become ill due to their work. Our mission is to contribute to the health of workers and prevent occupational diseases through research, education, and clinical and occupational health care. We initiate and conduct research that is relevant to workers, employers and professionals in occupational health care.

As an associate professor in our department, you will focus on:

  • Initiating and coordinating research into early signs of work-related conditions.
  • Co-initiating new projects, writing innovative funding proposals to national and international funding bodies, and securing resources for research.
  • Supervising research and researchers, particularly PhD candidates, junior researchers, and students.
  • Actively initiating new bachelor’s and master’s projects for students.
  • Co-developing, delivering, and evaluating the department’s education, particularly in the medical  curriculum.
  • Participating in and establishing relevant national and international collaborations and networks.

About you
  • A PhD in a relevant subfield and at least five years of relevant experience as a postdoc or associate/assistant professor, preferably also abroad.
  • Extensive methodological, statistical and epidemiological knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrable interest in research on work and health or public health.
  • Extensive experience in writing international, peer-reviewed publications, as evidenced by an appealing publication list.
  • Proven ability to attract (international) research grants, as demonstrated by funded projects.
  • Experience in supervising PhD candidates and junior researchers.
  • Experience in (co-)developing and teaching on the aforementioned topics and supervising internship students.
  • A Basic Qualification in Education (BKO) and the Basic Course Regulations and Organization for Clinical Researchers (BROK).
  • Project management competencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, analytical ability, and perseverance.

You are inspiring, accessible, and focused on collaboration. In addition, you are flexible, ambitious, and result-oriented. According to the principle of "practice what you preach," you also pay attention to maintaining a healthy work-life balance and feel collectively responsible for promoting healthy working practices in the department.
