Wat ga je doen?
The task of the PhD will be to reveal the role of bone morphogenetic protein 10 expression on right heart adaptation and pulmonary vascular remodeling in pulmonary arterial hypertension. The project entails ex vivo, in vitro and in vivo analyses to 1. determine expression of BMP10 during disease progression; 2. identify transcription factors regulating BMP10 expression and 3. to identify novel compounds to target BMP 10 expression.

We seek a highly motivated and hard working scientist who can work independently and is creative in seeking solutions when encountering problems.
- Experience with (3D) cell culture models;
- Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells;
- Excellent English, communication and reporting skills;
- Expected to publish and participate in international conferences;
- Article 9 certificate or experience with in vivo models is highly appreciated.

Waar ga je werken?
We will offer a working environment in which the translation from basic science to clinic is priority. The research of the pulmonary hypertension team is focused on diagnosis, treatment and understanding the pathophysiology of pulmonary vascular remodeling and right heart failure. This is a joint project between the PH research group of the Amsterdam UMC and the cell and chemical biology group of the Leiden University Medical Center. Although the candidate will be primarily appointed at the Amsterdam UMC, the candidate will be working at both the Amsterdam UMC as well as Leiden University Medical Center.
