
At Alzheimer Center Amsterdam, patient care and scientific research go hand in hand. All patients who visit the Alzheimer Center for diagnostics and treatment are asked for permission to include their clinical data in the Amsterdam Dementia Cohort (ADC). The clinical and imaging data (MRI) collected in this way can thus be used for scientific purposes.
The ADC consists of almost 10,000 patients, and it forms the basis for a large part of the clinical research of Alzheimer Center Amsterdam. We are looking for a determined researcher with both clinical and information technology skills to complement our database team.
As a data scientist you are responsible for managing, monitoring and optimizing data flows, registering data according to the FAIR principles and issuing clinical and MRI datasets to our researchers.
You act as a link between clinical researchers, the database of the Amsterdam Dementia Cohort, and support departments such as ICT, Business Intelligence, and Research Data Management.
Your main duties and responsibilities are:
We are looking for a data scientist graduated in medical information science, or a post-doc with a different background with an affinity with neuroscientific research who works accurately, is proactive, has a flexible attitude and likes to work within a diverse team consisting of researchers, information architects, and data stewards.

Alzheimer Center Amsterdam was established to serve patient care and patient-related scientific research into various forms of dementia. With over 100 employees, we are part of the Neurology department of Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc.
The team consists of various disciplines and is focused on care and research in the field of dementia. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Wiesje van der Flier (Scientific Director) and Prof. Dr. Yolande Pijnenburg (Medical Director), we conduct high-quality clinical scientific research, in which young passionate researchers join forces with experienced staff members.
